Travis Country Neighborhood
Recognized as Austin’s First Environmentally Planned neighborhood, Travis Country is a small, established neighborhood that began its development around 1973. Tucked away in southwest Austin and located near Southwest Parkway and Mopac, it is known to be one of the most family-friendly neighborhoods in Austin. Residents in the area are just a short drive away from the Barton Creek Greenbelt, Barton Creek Mall, and downtown. The neighborhood offers three primary amenity centers: Blue Valley, Gaines Creek, and the Hilltop Area. Blue Valley Park features lighted basketball courts, tennis courts, swimming pools, and a small pond. Gaines Creek Park is also nearby and provides small running trails for residents to enjoy. The Hilltop Amenity Area is located towards the back of the neighborhood and also has a pool, a park and a playground for smaller children to enjoy.
Homes and Real Estate in Travis Country, TX
Roughly 1,500 single-family homes and a few condos make up the Travis Country area. While most of them were built from the mid-70s to the late 90s, a couple of newer homes arose during 2004. The tight-knit community now encompasses a variety of different homes that are all competitively priced. However, homes in this neighborhood are among the most affordable in the area, with nearby neighborhoods exceeding a million dollars per property.
Travis Country Schools
Travis Country is served by Austin ISD and is home to one of the top private schools in the city, Regents School of Austin. Other schools in the neighborhood include Oak Hill Elementary, O. Henry Middle School, and Austin High School.
